- Der Engel sprach zu den Hirten:
- Ich verkündige euch große Freude,
- denn euch ist heute der Heiland geborn,
- welcher ist Christus der Herr
- in der Stadt David,
- und er heißt Wunderbar,
- Rat, Kraft, Held,
- ewig Vater, Friedefürst.
- Alleluia.
English translation
- The angel spoke unto the shepherds:
- I bring you good tidings of great joy,
- for unto you is born this day a Savior,
- which is Christ the Lord
- in the city of David,
- and He shall be called Wonderful,
- Counselor, Power, Hero,
- Eternal Fater, Prince of Peace.
