Alles zur Ruh! alles zur Ruh! Blumen auf tauigen Wiesen müde die Äuglein nun schließen, Vöglein sich singen zur Ruh: schlummre auch du, schlummre auch du. Alles zur Ruh! alles zur Ruh! Dich auch zur Ruhe bereite, hörst du das Abendgeläute, gib du dein Amen dazu: schlummre auch du, schlummre auch du.

English text Louis C. Elson All are at rest, all are at rest. Over the blue hill tops gleaming, faint rays of sunset are streaming calling from out of the west hie thee to rest, hie thee to rest. All are at rest, all are at rest. Flow'rs on green meadows reposing, gently their eyelids are closing, birds carol forth from their nest hie thee to rest, hie thee to rest. All are at rest, all are at rest. Whilst the deep stillness surrounding, hear'st thou the evening bell sounding? Give it response in thy breast, hie thee to rest, hie thee to rest.
