Song of Solomon 5:8–10
Latin text
Adiuro vos filiae Jerusalem,
si inveneritis dilectum meum,
ut nuntietis ei, quia amore langueo.
Qualis est dilectus tuus ex dilecto,
o pulcherrima mulierum,
quia sic adiurasti nos?
Dilectus meus candidus et rubicundus;
electus ex milibus.
English translation
(Bride:)
I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem,
if ye find my beloved,
that ye tell him that I languish with love.
(Daughters of Jerusalem:)
What is thy beloved more than another,
O thou most beautiful of women,
that thou so chargest us?
(Bride:)
My beloved is white and ruddy,
one chosen from thousands.
(translation by Mick Swithinbank)
