Far across the surging main
The gallant ship doth steer,
And now may we call in vain
For those who were so dear.

Lonely o’er the ocean’s foam,
And through the sparkling spray,
Seek they out another home,
Far away, far away.

Pray for those at sea,
Both by night and day.
Oft when through the leafless trees,
The hollow winds shall roar,

Lowly bending on our knees
From this our distant sore.
Prayers shall follow in the wake
Of where the ship doth glide,

And shall bless it for the sake
Of those it bears inside.
Pray for those at sea,
Both by night and day.
