32999Edmund Gooch2014-09-212014-09-21The original order of parts is 2nd - 1st - [Instrumental bass] in the opening symphony, and Tenor - [Alto] - Treble - [Bass] - [Instrumental bass] thereafter. The alto voice part is given in the treble clef an octave above sounding pitch in the source. Symphonies after the first one are given on the voice parts, with the second treble-range instrumental part printed on the tenor stave at the same pitch as given in this edition (i.e. this has not been transposed by an octave in transcription). The first time bar is an editorial addition, with the final note shortened to accommodate the repeat to partway through a bar which is shown in the source by the use of 'segno' marks (the final sung note is printed in the source as a semibreve, as shown here in the second-time bar). The first verse is underlaid in the source, with the subsequent verses given here printed after the music. The instrumental bass part from the last crotchet of bar 22 to the third crotchet of bar 23 (doubling the alto line) is printed in the alto clef in the source.103645'Tis by thy strength the mountains stand (Thomas Clark)'Tis by thy strength the mountains standThomas Clark2023-09-16 07:51:52
